Yagrumo

The Yagrumo leaf grows in the rainforest of Puerto Rico.  These leaves can grow to be large enough that people have been known to use them as an umbrella in a quick rain shower.  The leaf remains beautiful even after it falls off the tree and turns white and dark as it begins to curl in on itself creating beautiful shapes.

The leaves I create grow in the rainforest of Puerto Rico. As a child, my mother would have me collect them from the rainforest floor. I'm intrigued by the beauty of these leaves that comes out when they begin to die and fall off the branch. They become bleached by the son and curl in on themselves like twisted gnarly fingers. They represent a recreation of my childhood memories both beautiful and fragile, and love for moments long gone.

Huevos

Huevos is a series of eggs that were personalities.  During their creation I found my self cradling them like children and then painting them based on the personalities I felt thy had.
